Veiled in the elegant splendor of nature, this beautiful Vietnamese Villa is the majestic home of a three-generation family unit. Designed by Nghia Architect, delicate curtain crawls fall around the edges of long terraces, creating amazing pockets of peaceful privacy. A contrast of cool concrete and warm wood flows from the modern home exterior into contemporary living spaces. Long skylights bring in sunlight flowing in to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space. Circular light wells drill concrete overhangs on the porch to allow trees to push through toward the sky. Floor plans and a video preview of this fabulous family home are included at the end of our tour.

The modern home’s exterior shines with an inviting light that adds to the mystery of the covered curtain crawls.

The home was designed to serve the different lifestyles of the three-generation family. While the grandparents are getting used to the traditional Vietnamese lifestyle, the younger family members are familiar with a modern, multicultural way of life.

The elderly family members have lived in this area of Vietnam for a long time, so they have built strong bonds with their community, and enjoy interacting with their friendly neighbors on a daily basis. A permanent porch around the perimeter of the home offers plenty of places to have fun. A round light well brightens the area, which is mainly shaded by a concrete overhang.

A mature tree stretches up through the well of light, where it seeks the sun.

There is a second circular cut that makes room for an outdoor spiral staircase.

A solid wall separates the porch just behind the stairs, building a large privacy screen that overlooks the garden.

The privacy wall separates one of the bedrooms and its adjoining terrace area.

A tracery color image gives the concrete wall a warm aesthetic.

An outdoor chair furnishes the bedroom terrace to create a place for quiet contemplation or reading.

Curtain climbs sway nicely in the breeze.

The second and third generations of this family travel home to Vietnam only a few times a year, so this unique home was designed to include large spaces that would accommodate festive family gatherings and social events.

Because there are big differences in the lifestyles of the family members, due to age and culture, various indoor and outdoor living spaces have been created to suit different needs and desires.

Large community spaces were flexible, so they could be opened or closed. Habitats peacefully connect with the lush gardens and courtyard.

During the construction of the family villa, much of the native pine forest was preserved.

The villa structure extends in different directions to adjust the landscape, and to protect the pine trees as their own gardens.

Although large, the architectural structure manages to blend well with its natural environment.

Thanks to its green veil, the house is distinguished only by the outline of its upper and lower roof lines. Raw concrete and natural wood grain form a rustic look that coincides with a modern lifestyle.

The high-end design of the roof canopy gives the building a thin, gravitational redefining look. As it borders the length of the building, it creates a wide, 30-meter-long open porch with no sign of a structural pillar.

Wooden slats open the side of the building to connect with the nature-kissed porch.

Inside the villa, a wooden dining table seats eight to ten people at a dinner party. A light dining room chandelier falls in front of the special sight. The open porch forms a place where homeowners and guests can gather after dinner, to take a breath of fresh air or to admire the rain.

Behind the dining room, a contemporary kitchen is equipped with all the modern appliances needed to arrange large family gatherings.

Green plants and sunlight characterize the cheerful walking paths of the home.

Light windows open the connecting corridors to the blue sky.

The family home is divided into three main blocks.

Two private dormitories, each with its own lounges, are located on each side of the structure.

The central block is home to the kitchen and dining room, which serve as the primary community space and as a link to all areas.

A glass wall room is raised above a private garden, with the bathtub located above to absorb the green view.

Footsteps meander through the lawn.

A designer chair provides an elegant stop against a board-shaped concrete wall.

A pivot door makes a secret entrance into one of the master bedrooms.

Ripe pines dwarf the large villa.

Local birds jump up on the porch, where hammock seats await on lazy afternoons.

When everything is closed, the beautiful wooden shutters completely envelop the main block of life to a wonderful effect. Sunlight steals floor-to-ceiling windows to add to the naturally striped aesthetic.

At sunset, LED lights are turned on in the floor to illuminate the wooden lath home exterior.

The first floor plan illustrates the layout of the three main blocks, with the communal kitchen dining room sandwiched between the two private sleeping blocks. Guest rooms are located at the back of the house, adjacent to the housekeeper wing and storage space.

On the second floor plan, we find two more bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.
