Colouring Modern Interiors With Green and Red Accents

A fabulous free-form living room rug spreads a gradient of color across the floor of our first prominent home interior. A black living room floor lamp echoes the curves of the carpet design with an oversized arched arm.

The wall decoration of the living room does not exist except for a free-form mirror spectacle, which flakes on the simple white wall like liquid mercury.

A masculine black leather sofa design boldly follows the perimeter of the room. A segmented backrest helps to lighten the appearance of the large black volume.

In the center of the minimalist lounge layout, a white marble coffee table nests with a contrasting black equivalent. The chair next to it is the Barcelona chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll, which was originally designed for the King and Queen of Spain.

Steps on the side of the lounge area give way to an elevated dining area. A modern dining room chandelier competes for attention over a surprising red dining table.

The modern black dining chairs contrast strikingly with the table, making its bright red finish appear even brighter.

In response to the striking nature of the dining hall’s statement, the neighboring dining island is executed in a darker palette of black and clear acrylic.

A simple white kitchen stretches peacefully behind the black kitchen table and a satin silver kitchen island. White integrated appliances quietly blend in with the flat-front cabinet.

Our second featured home design soaks a little darker in shade, with dark gray elements and large black wall panels playing a dominant role. A large round rug places a charcoal base under the open plan living area, which gathers a range of contrasting pieces of furniture together into one comfortable offspring.

A black and white puff ties in with the shape of the large living room rug, and a curved sofa pulls tightly around its edge.

Decorating the living room wall continues the rounded theme and introduces bold green.

A cylindrical stool rounds out the layout of living room furniture without adding any size.

A mid-century modern coffee table places a reuleaux-triangular silhouette in the center of the living room, where it nests with a matching circular coegal. Decorative ceramic vases make a neat decoration and bring a little burst of red.

As we move into the kitchen dining room of our second home design, we come across a smooth, bright red dining table.

A unique dining room chandelier blazes brightly and boldly along the entire length of the red table, creating light reflections across its bright surface.

A decorative shelf builds a useful room divider between the lively kitchen dining room and a less colorful formal dining room. A restrained collection of curiosities and books sparsely occupy its two-sided shelves.

Concrete details cool the red accent interior, in the form of a minimalist modern staircase design, concrete kitchen tables and cool concrete floor.

Modern artwork drops a spotlight on a dark feature wall next to the kitchen. A kitchen peninsula partially fills the opening between the dining room and the kitchen space, creating a functional divide between the two zones.

A wall of light fills the back of the kitchen in bright contrast to extremely black appliance cabinets and a compatible black paneled ceiling treatment.

A white kitchen island is arranged in the center of the open concept kitchen, where it also serves as a casual breakfast bar. Black kitchen stools are paired to accommodate breakfast or coffee break for two.

While one kitchen sink is located on the kitchen peninsula, another finds its home on the kitchen island.

The island runs in tandem to the kitchen peninsula in perfect alignment.

Stainless steel handles brighten up the black kitchen units, while black integrated appliances simply merge with their housings.

The open-side bookshelf allows the viewer to pass all the way from the kitchen to the formal dining room at the far end, which is equipped with a wet bar.

Despite its predominantly dark décor, the home’s interior looks bright and welcoming thanks to well-placed modern lighting and brightly colored accents.

A lunar sculpture is erected on an elevated platform under the modern concrete staircase. Glass railing preserves the floating effect of the concrete treads.

The heavy concrete treads appear almost lightweight in their cantilevered design.
