A stupid sense of style runs through the two individualistic home projects we are touring here. Our first curious home trip takes place in a careful restoration of a large 5-bedroom town hall that features beautifully restored woodwork, custom details and about 8,000 square feet of light-filled interiors. Colorful artwork and eclectic furniture collection form living spaces that draw the eye and excite the mind. The second home design we visit is an attic located in the historic Gilsey House building in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. Industrial features make its history worse, while bold pieces of art, colorful accents and a tailored staircase project transform the attic into a wonderfully modern and uplifting home.

Led by award-winning architect Jeffery of Poverty & Company, this 20-width single-family townhouse renovation includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms and immaculately rejuvenated living spaces. Colorful wall art enlivens the light-flooded hall. Bright scattering cushions and throws color the sofas, while a large area rug adds texture to the floor.

The glorious wooden staircase was restored, bringing rich warmth to every floor of the town hall. In the dining room, a multicolored rug adds a bright contemporary touch with the classic woodwork. A modern dining room chandelier fills the fresh white ceiling space.

The town hall boasts an interior of about 8,000 square feet. A huge kitchen is blessed with an impressive central island that also serves as a casual dining / breakfast.

Industrial style kitchen bar stools line up under the pure white corian counter. Five elegant hanging lights meander over the length of the island.

Gray and white framed kitchen cabinets build a custom look. Two side-by-side 6-burn wolves and a rural sink put spotlights in the layout. One small doorway leads to an oversized dining room, while French doors lead to an intimate balcony with a grill and outdoor dining area that overlooks 5th Avenue.

The entrance features more delicate woodwork and an original dark-wood glass panel, under impressive 12-foot-high ceilings.

An eclectic furniture collection builds a complex look.

A chestnut brown tufted leather sofa complements a rich wooden coffered ceiling in the comfortable library / apartment.

In the corner, a librarian ladder climbs up the books. An elegant chair and side table form a comfortable reading corner.

In the back lounge, clever monkey figurines surpass a grape bar that sprang from an old hotel.

The bar was restored and equipped with new appliances, electrical appliances and plumbing.

The upper floor of the five-story town hall contains three of the bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room and a “hidden” office.

A production office is located on the garden level of the home. Stylized desks, exposed masonry and industrial-style lighting give this space its own distinctive character of the house.

The building also has its own ten-seat home theater.

String lights add a magical sparkle to the fully furnished roof deck.

A dining room is partially shaded under a wooden pergola, while the outdoor sofa and chairs sunbathe.

Jacuzzi bubbles in a rooftop hideout.

A second bedroom contains a strange zoo of ceramic animal heads across the TV wall.

A custom entry closet offers plenty of clothing and accessories to store.

2036 Fifth Avenue is located just one block from 125th Street, a bustling boulevard lined with restaurants and shops.

We are traveling next to an apartment located in the historic Gilsey House building in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood.

During this renovation, all existing walls were removed to highlight the historic windows, original molding and steel structure. Now natural sunlight hits clean white walls and vibrant artwork every time.

Light gray kitchen gives a soft contrast against the white background.

Source Le Verdier by Henry Le Monnier, 1931, makes a striking addition over the stove and a marvelous marble back splash.

A small shelf is integrated into the dramatic marble slab.

The exposed steel structure of the building creates a cool industrial atmosphere.

A built-in bookshelf rises in front of the stairs, creating one connected wooden volume within the open layout.

Sections of the bookcase remain backless to let light and images flow through.

Decorative items separate the book collection.

Bright wall art fashions interest areas as we move through the attic.

Recovered wooden doors have been salvaged and renovated to create historic breaks within the minimalist decor scheme.

Revealed pipes continue the industrial thread through the attic, sometimes colorfully highlighted with a playful pink finish.

A home workspace was created with a tailored black marble desk and a vibrant gallery wall.

Another custom-built bookshelf and stair combos build a cool children’s space.

This time, cheerful turquoise paint colors the shelves and steps. Ash wood floors brighten the space.

A wild black and white decorative plan enlivens the family bathroom. Bold yellow bathrooms further accentuate the fabulous concept.

The floor plan shows how the master bathroom escapes the long toilet area of the master series. The child’s room has access to the family bathroom immediately opposite, at the stairs.
